Playing in Our Old School Sprinkler

How is the end of your summer shaping up? Still hot as the dickens here but at least we can remedy that will some good old-fashioned, wet fun. We may live in the suburbs of Texas, but we haven't jumped on the sprinkler system trend. We're the odd man out pulling our sprinkler to the middle of our yard, getting the spray angle correct, and then manually turning the faucet on. Yes, there are times it's cumbersome and lugging the sprinkler around in the heat of summer is annoying. But there are times it's awesome! For example, introducing Molly to our sprinkler, her own personal splash toy! In the name of using up ALL those swim diapers we bought for daycare splash days, we've been letting Molly get to know our sprinkler. She is still skeptical of water that doesn't come out of the tub's faucet, but she had a fun time anyway running around the yard and trying to grab the water. It makes me nostalgic for my childhood.

Anyone else still using old school sprinklers?
Playing is thirsty work!

  4. Adorable pictures! We use sprinklers like crazy. My sister bought the kids a giant Spongebob attachment, it's half falling apart b/c the kids use it so much. We need to do that in the front yard, it is significantly dryer than the well-hyrdated grass in the backyard :)

    1. Thanks Joy! Same here, the front yard needs some TLC! Oh the thought of my neighbors' reaction to a half-naked child running around our front yard would be priceless! That's motivation enough for me! Thanks for the idea! ;)

  6. It looks like she was having a great time! We don't have a sprinkler but we do have a water table that my munchkin loves. She also thinks the dog's water bowl is her own personal water table:)
